It has been named: “ The Ageless Mythical Cars Tour UAE 2013” and is due to take place from the 9th to 13th December 2013 in the United Arab Emirates. It is open to cars built before 31st December 1970 but the drivers will have to be very knowledgeable about their vehicles.
Yas Marina Circuit, UAE
One hundred and fifty classic cars are scheduled to take part in the race that is over a length of about 1,000 km. The cars will stick to the road network starting at the Yas Marina Circuit that is situated in Abu Dhabi. The cars will then cross various emirates to finish back in Abu Dhabi.
In the UAE there are many classic car owners so this is an ideal opportunity to savour the thrill of driving in a race. The UAE is renowned for staging some fantastic sporting events and this has every chance of adding to that reputation.
This is to be what is termed a “regularity race” but is also referred to as Time Speed Distance rallying. The idea is that you will not be trying to speed past competing cars but you will be endeavouring to keep to specific times and exact average speeds on a pre-determined route. These races are usually run on public roads. You will be able to witness such classic car makes as Porsche, Mercedes Benz, Lancia, Ferrari, Maserati, Jaguar, Bugatti, Bentley and Alfa Romeo.
This is rather an exclusive race with classic cars being driven by celebrities, renowned business-people etc. These drivers will need to be technically minded and clearly understand the rules. The race will comply with the International Automobile Federation FIA that is responsible for worldwide motor sport regulations.
After the race there will be another award, for different age groups, and that will be based on the technical innovations shown.
This promises to be quite an event.
