The 21st April 2013 promises to be a fantastic day out for classic car enthusiasts as they flock to Towcester Racecourse in Northamptonshire to witness the start of a classic car rally that ends at Silverstone. Don’t miss it!
The rally will comprise 90 classic cars of all shapes and sizes with a lot of money hopefully being raised for charity. The rally will make its way through some delightful countryside in Northamptonshire until finally arriving at Silverstone where the Vintage Sports Car Club’s Spring break race meeting will be taking place. At the event there will be some wonderful vehicles dating from before the war.
The event is being organised by Hagerty who, amongst other things, are classic car insurers. The Federation of British and Historic Vehicle Clubs (FBHVC)’s ‘Drive It Day’ has been run for 6 years and it incudes numerous classic car owners who have a keen interest in the hobby. Only last year this particular occasion was able to raise a valuable £3,000 for a number of charities.
Angus Forsyth, who is the Managing Director for Hagerty International commented: “As a Northamptonshire-based company, it is fantastic to be able to give something back to local organisations that rely on donations to maintain their great work. Hosting a classic car rally is the natural thing to do for a company that has such a passion and understanding of classic cars.”
During previous rallies Hagerty have played a significant part in the raising of funds for health charities such as the Motorsport Safety Fund, Bowel Cancer UK, Hope Against Cancer and the Horton Hospital Children’s Ward.
This event really does provide classic car owners and those who enjoy watching them in all their glory the opportunity to have a great day out but also support some wonderful charities.Enjoy this superb day.
