Thousands Expected At The Cowley Classic Car Show

The Cowley Classic Car Show is now in its sixth year with the next annual event scheduled to take place on Sunday 18th August 2013. The location of this extremely popular event is Court Place Farm in Marston when classic cars from years gone by will be on display along with entertainment for the children plus plenty of food and drink.

250 classic cars are expected at the show

The Rotary Club of Oxford Isis will be hosting the show and it is expected to attract thousands of classic car enthusiasts from all over the country and no doubt some from overseas as well. They will be celebrating the fact that William Morris started building cars in Oxford one hundred years ago so this promises to be an extra special occasion.

Apparently, there will be a bigger selection of classic cars this year ranging from Bentleys from the 1930s to cars built as recently as 2002. In fact, they are expecting as many as 250 cars to be on display.

The classic car show starts at mid-day and finishes at 5pm during which time there will be plenty to see and do. There will be free rides taking place on old buses that are being brought in from the Morris Minor Motor Museum and the Oxford Bus Museum, bouncy castles and much more.

Ron Mobbs is a member of the above rotary club and he will be in attendance with a couple of vehicles – a Bedford O type lorry dating back to 1950 and a Morris Eight car built in 1936.

At last year’s show in excess of £3,000 was raised for charity so let’s hope that that figure can be beaten this year. Funds will go to ROSY that is a charity located in Kidlington along with some other charities.

This sounds like a great day out for the whole family so why not pop along and take the opportunity to view some vintage motor vehicles.
