All you classic car enthusiasts will be interested to read about the recent sale of a private classic car collection here in the UK. It certainly involved a huge number of vehicles that were sold for millions of pounds.
The classic car collection included an Aston Martin DB5 similar to this one.
John Collins, who is the owner of Talacrest that is a classic Ferrari specialist based in Ascot, Berkshire, has purchased 27 vehicles for in the region of £20 million from an individual not too far from London. Some of the cars have got very low mileage on them.
Although Mr Collins specialises in Ferraris the collection includes a variety of vehicles. In fact, there are 11 Ferraris, 2 Porsches, 1 Jaguar, 4 Aston Martins, 5 Mercedes and 4 Lamborghinis.
It is interesting that, in the space of only a week, Mr Collins has already sold 10 of the 27 cars. This just goes to show how much interest remains in the classic car market as, over the years, there has been a huge increase in the value of many classic vehicles making them an excellent investment.
Apparently, there was a Lamborghini LP500S dating back to 1982 that has only just done about 500 miles. There is also a Jaguar E-Type dating back to 1965 that has done a mere 2,605 miles. There is a Ferrari Testarossa dating back to 1991 that has only been driven a total of 1,788 miles. It is also estimated that some of the Ferraris are worth more than £1 million each.
The person that sold the cars to Mr Collins had built up the collection over many years and preferred to sell them all to one buyer.
This sounds like a wonderful collection. Presumably, many of the cars that have yet to be sold will be quickly snapped up by classic car enthusiasts. It would be great if they were all bought by people based in the UK rather than be sold overseas as, we are sure that you will agree, it is always good to see as many iconic classic cars remaining in this country to be enjoyed by many.
