If you are the proud owner of a classic car then, just in case you are not aware, it is worth noting that, if your car was manufactured before the 1st January 1981, you are permitted to apply to stop having to pay for vehicle tax from the 1st April 2021 although you will still have to tax it even though you should not have to pay for doing so.
It is also worth noting that if you do not happen to be aware exactly when your classic car was manufactured, as long as it was first registered prior to the 8th January 1981, then you are still able to apply to stop having to pay tax on your vehicle.
Eligible vehicles are cars, motorcycles, vans and tricycles. However, if you use the vehicle on a commercial basis or for reward or hire such as as a taxi then you are not permitted to apply for exemption from paying vehicle tax.
There are certain other vehicles that you can apply for exemption from paying vehicle tax with a full list being available on the gov.uk website. So you might like to refer to it.
Obviously, anything that you can do to reduce your personal expenditure has got to be welcomed especially in the current economic climate. So, if you are able to obtain exemption from paying vehicle tax on your cherished vehicle, you would save some money.
