Those of you classic car enthusiasts may well be aware that the classic car that has previously been sold for a record price was a Ferrari 250 GTO a few years ago. Well, that record may have been broken but has not been confirmed.
Many of you may expect the record to be broken by the sale of yet another Ferrari classic car but this may not be the case. It is rumoured that a 1955 Mercedes Benz 300 SLR “Silver Arrow” has been sold for around $142 million far exceeding the previous record for selling a classic Ferrari. This may surprise classic Ferrari enthusiasts who may have felt that the Ferrari would always sell for the highest price. One of the reasons why the classic Mercedes Benz may have been sold for a record price is that it is one of only two of these hardtops that were built by this famous German car manufacturer.
It will be interesting to see if there is any official announcement made in the coming days or weeks concerning the possible sale of this classic sports car for a record price.
Will the new owner be going to take it out for a spin on a lovely summer’s afternoon or take it to classic car shows where it can be viewed and enjoyed by many classic car enthusiasts or will it be kept hidden for years before possibly being sold once again – perhaps for a record sale price?
